The 2009 Triumph Sprint is the best bike I’ve ever owned. I’ve had many, many bikes since the brand new Suzuki AP50 I bought in 1976 and this one is probably the most sensible bike I’ve owned too!

Why?

Why?

I’m Kevin McKeown (aka Big Kev). I’m 50, married to Deb and have 2 teenage sons – Cal and Dan. I work as a paramedic for SECAmb, currently based at Gatwick Airport and I run an IT Consultancy – zOpium.
Anyway, why do this (the blog and the journey)?
The journey’s just a holiday; two weeks off work, a motorcycle, a tent and a GPS. I love riding my motorcycle, I quite like camping (so long as it doesn’t piss down with rain every day) and going to places unplanned, that I’ve never been to before can be exciting.
I chose Ireland because it’s where all my family come from and I hardly know it. As a child I used to spend summers in Bessbrook, Co. Down, where most of my paternal relatives still live…
